Shalaco fell in love with photography in the dark rooms of his high school where he learned the science and chemistry of photography. Simultaneously taking design and photography classes he discovered his passion for hands-on processes, and mixing analog and digital mediums and creating mixed media work.
He studied film production, photojournalism and commercial photography at Brooks Institute.
He moved to San Francisco on January 1st, 2007 where he was co-opted by a digital ad agency and began working in web development and design for tech companies.
In 2014 he took what he learned in design, marketing, and technology and applied it began his own photography business. clients include Acupera, Airbnb, Google, Great Northern, Illuminate, John Hancock, Galvanize, Long Now Foundation, Netflix, SFMoMA, Structure Properties, Toptal, and Veritas Investments.
His work has been published in NBC, CBS Morning News, FastCompany, Business Insider, ArchDaily, NPR, amongst others.
